I had the honor of attending the Fourth Lausanne Congress on World Evangelism in Seoul Incheon, South Korea in September, celebrating their 50th anniversary with 5,000 people from over 200 nations. A powerful moment for me was the gathering of 100 artists from around the world (picture above). As we got to know each other, we shared our joys and struggles in the arts with respective to the great commission, the theme of the conference. In the next few episodes of my podcast, I will release interviews with many of these artists and further discuss the role of art in the conference.
I also had the honor of attending Mission to the World's Global Missions Conference in Atlanta November 1-3 with 1,800 people in attendance from around the world. The arts were represented well through plenaries, seminars, and the exhibit hall. I personally loved the display of Jen Burkemper (visual artist) and her team in Spain with olive oil and a free giveaways of wine!
The MAKE Collective gathered for a sharing time during lunch, led by visual artist Marcus Rudd in Mexico. In the picture below, Anna Gardner shares about her dance internship in Japan. A number of young people took steps toward engaging in arts and missions internships around the world. It was such a wonderful time to gather with other artists serving around the world!
